CleanSlate Storage Solutions did not start with a business plan, a market study, or a branding exercise. It started in my dad’s garage.

For years, his garage had been an unresolved project. Every visit came with the same conversations of “We should really pick a weekend to tackle this.” And for years, we never did. My schedule was hectic. Weeks turned into months. Months turned into years. The garage stayed the same.

This was not new in my family. Growing up, we reorganized my childhood garage countless times. Entire weekends spent sorting, stacking, and rearranging. Each time, it looked great. Each time, it slowly slid back into chaos. Boxes piled up. Pathways disappeared. Finding anything became an infuriating process.

Standing there one day, listening to my dad talk about how impossible it was to find items he needed for work and how endless the task felt, I wondered why we didn’t just bite the bullet and handle it. There was clearly a problem to solve, and we’re not lazy people. It wasn’t even an organization problem. We just did not want to spend the time on it.

As someone with a demanding professional schedule and a business background, I had become ruthless about where my time went. I knew exactly how valuable weekends were. And I knew I had no interest in spending them knee-deep in boxes, making hundreds of small decisions about things that did not actually matter to me.

People would love to have organized garages. They hate what it takes to get there.

It’s the decision fatigue of picking up every item and asking, “Do I keep this?” It’s the physical labor of lifting, moving, hauling, and stacking. It’s the fact that the project has no clear end. Hourly help drags on. DIY attempts steal multiple weekends. And life keeps getting in the way.

So I pulled together a small team. Close friends, and my fiancé. We blocked out the day and fully organized the garage.

That was the moment CleanSlate took shape.
